(CNN)The primary nest of large “murder hornets” ever found in the US has been eradicated, two days after it was situated in Washington state.
The Asian giant hornet nest was discovered on Thursday at 4 p.m. native time by entomologists from the Washington State Division of Agriculture (WSDA) within the cavity of a tree on a property close to the city of Blaine.
WSDA workers tracked down the nest by way of radio trackers which that they had hooked up to a number of captured hornets. They noticed dozens of the bugs flying out and in of the tree.
